On June 6, Kaiping City, Canada Menergy Corporation and CCTC signed a MOU to jointly develop the Kaiping Cuishanhu New Economic Development Zone into Guangdong Province’s first low-carbon industrial park. Present at the signing ceremony were senior officers from Kaiping, executives from Menergy and CCTC. Mr. Wen Yan, CPC Standing Committee Member and Vice Mayor of Kaiping, Mr. Douglas Lash, VP of Menergy, and Mr. Jiannan Zeng of CCTC, signed on the MOU representing the respective organizations, at Menergy’s China headquarters in Nanjing.

CCTC and Menergy are currently building a low-carbon technology demonstration center in Cuishanhu new economic development zone of Kaiping under the support of the APP program, which resulted to Kaipings decision to fully develop the zone into a low-carbon industrial park. This may eventually lead to the total air-conditioned building area of 10 millions of square meters within the park to be serviced by ground source heat pumps for exceptional energy saving performance. The energy saving will be equivalent to 120,000 tonnes of standard coal and GHG gas emission reduction of 326,000 tonnes of CO2 per year.
